Spain travel FAQs
Do UK citizens need a visa for Spain in 2025?
No. UK citizens can enter Spain visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. Your passport must be valid for the duration of your stay (not necessarily 6 months beyond — Spain requires validity for the duration, not beyond). Post-Brexit, UK passports are stamped on entry and exit at EU borders.
What is the best month to visit Spain from the UK?
May and September offer the best combination of warm weather (22–27°C), lower prices than peak summer, and reduced crowds. For beach holidays, September is exceptional — summer heat has softened, the sea is at its warmest (24°C), and resorts are significantly quieter than July–August. For city sightseeing, April, May, and October are ideal.
Is it cheaper to book a package holiday or flights and hotels separately?
Package holidays (flight + hotel from a single travel store) are typically cheaper for beach and resort destinations, particularly during peak periods — operators buy in bulk and pass savings on. City breaks to Barcelona and Madrid can sometimes be cheaper when booked separately using low-cost carriers and independent hotels, particularly if you are flexible on dates. Compare both options before booking.
What should I book in advance for Spain?
Always book in advance: Sagrada Família in Barcelona (sells out weeks ahead in summer), Alhambra Nasrid Palaces in Granada (3 months ahead in peak season), Alcázar in Seville (recommended). Your accommodation and flights — prices increase significantly closer to travel dates. Optional but worth pre-booking: popular flamenco shows, high-speed rail (AVE) tickets at least 2 weeks ahead.
